"The Trumpet Master"
The Trumpet Master is a painting from my Curly Cue series. I did this painting while listening to the great Louis Armstrong who is perhaps the greatest musician to ever live. His life story and his contribution to the world has no parallel. When he recorded "It's a Wonderful World" things were not so great for African Americans. Many in the black community felt that he had sold them out by not acknowledging their suffering at the time. However Louis or "Pops" as he was affectionately known was a man who had traveled all over the planet. He was able to see, hear and taste different cultures. Embrace people all over the world from all different walks of life. He was lovingly embraced by people of all ethnicity's, religions and beliefs. This expanded his view and shaped his opinions about humanity. In spite of our current reality here in America like Pops I too think it's a wonderful world.
