An equinox is an astronomical event in which the plane of Earth's equator passes the center of the sun, making night and day for approximately equal length all over the planet. It is the only time that the sub-solar point is on the equator. Equinoxes occur twice a year on September 23rd, my birthday and March 21 st. The September equinox signals the beginning of Autumn and in March the beginning of spring. My two favorite times of year are when the seasons change and new things happen. In the divine infinite places of the universe there are nurseries that give birth to stars. The process has been named Accretion, the light from those stars travel millions of light years or more to Earth. The light shines brilliantly in our night skies. We have gazed upon them for ages and they have inspired the creation of many things. I love that we have telescopes powerful enough to view them through and satellite's that take incredible photos of them. I can only imagine looking up at the night sky above the Serengeti Plains of Africa. That would be a sight to behold, I hope to see it some day. This painting is 40" x 30" acrylic on canvas.
Water is the most precious resource on our planet. Yet we care so little about it until it becomes scarce or disappears. Climate change is bringing drought to many parts of the world. Syria has erupted because of unprecedented drought, forcing thousands to leave their homes and way of life. Corporations continue to pollute our oceans and we went from good free tap water to bottled water that we pay for. We better change our ways while we still have time.
