Not long ago my wife and I were on our way home from a friends birthday party. It was a fun night, we had good food and drinks plus plenty of laughs. It had been raining all that day so my friends plans for an outdoor event did not work out. On the way home the closer we got to the mountain range where we live I heard loud thunder and saw dazzling lightning flashes in the distance. The sound of thunder is caused by lightning. Depending on the distance and nature of the lightning, thunder can range from a sharp crack to a long low rumble. The sudden increase in pressure and temperature from lightning produces rapid expansion of the air surrounding and within a bolt of lightning. In turn, this expansion of air creates a sonic shock wave, similar to a sonic boom, which produces the sound of thunder. Storms are awesome, I love the sheer power and beauty of nature. Yes storms can be very destructive but so are we. Science is real folks and I love it, this painting is a 6" x 6" oil on canvas....$200 shipping included.
